Improving upon our best

The main objective of i-Future is to help students to develop into young adults who are ready to take their place as positive members of society when they leave school.

We aim to support students in understanding that being an active citizen has benefits for themselves, their community and the wider world. Through a range of reflection and discursive activities, students will develop life skills so they can function effectively in an increasingly complex world. Examples of these life skills include a basic understanding of financial capability and knowledge of one’s own physical, emotional and mental health. Lastly, we equip students to make safe and mature decisions when faced with risky and dangerous situations.

By the end of KS4, a successful i-Future student will be able to:

  • Engage respectfully in group work and demonstrate purposeful communication skills

  • Make decisions supported by good reasoning and evidence

  • Have awareness of their own identities and those around them

  • Form healthy relationship and identify unsafe behaviours

  • Understand other cultures and religions to help better tackle discrimination and prejudice

  • Have awareness of how to look after their own physical, emotional and mental health

  • Use evidence to be able to make judgments and opinions
