Double Trouble

Year 11 were treated to a professional performance of The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde today, when a travelling company brought a Brechtian version of David Edgar's adaptation of the novel to our school hall.  The students enjoyed the show, which they are studying as part of their English Literature GCSE.

They watched the performance, which was a whip-through of the novel in original language, with additional characters introduced to support the heavy narration element of the original through action.

following the show, students were encouraged to experiment with characterisation and stagecraft through a workshop with the actors, including learning how to create character through props and how to land a stage punch.
