Enhanced provision for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Passmores Academy is proud to become the first secondary school in West Essex to open an enhanced provision for able secondary students with ASD. The Autism Hub opened on Monday 14th September 2015. The enhanced provision is a Local Authority funded resource admitting three students per year with a Statement or Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP) naming ASD as the primary area of need. There is an admissions criteria which can be discussed with the Local Authority team or Head of ASD Hub. Generally the student must have developed speech and be able to make age appropriate progress.
All students admitted to the Hub will have a reduced mainstream timetable to ensure that their social, emotional and sensory needs are met. A fully trained and qualified team will support curriculum access in class and during Curriculum Support in the Hub. Each student will have an individual plan with clear goals and outcomes in consultation with parents and the student.
